Celebrity Planet Harry Potter Walk - Excellent!
By TorontoToStart on October 5, 2015
A friend and I took the Harry Potter Walk yesterday – Sunday August 3rd. We are both adults but of course fans of the Harry Potter books and films. We were greeted on time by two of the friendliest, liveliest, entertainingly great fellows Ferry and Frankie. They were efficient in confirming we were down for the tour, engaged people in a super friendly and engaging way that made everyone on the tour welcome. We had folks on the tour that spoke a number of different languages, and while neither of our guides spoke other languages, they did have some basic key phrases that made these visitors welcome. Off we went for our excellent adventure and a whole host of sites, scenes, facts, trivia and the odd quiz question which I think the tour participants enjoyed.
Our tour involved catching a boat on the Thames and heading down river to a stop where the tour continued. Then we all caught the tube and headed to Kings Cross where the tour ended. Through all of this navigating and negotiating the different modes of transport, Ferry and Frankie where there as our guardians and ensured we were together, were safe and sound, and informed us all along the way as to where we were going and what we were seeing.
On our wonderful tour – our lovely guides added many additional bits of information concerning many of the actors in the Harry Potter films so that the background information we received was of great value. Also if other important films or facts were made along our walking tour, these were pointed out – and I for one really appreciated that extra information over and above the Harry Potter film information. Well done for adding this.
So was this tour good value for the money – absolutely. Were the tour guides good – no they were exceptionally good!!! The tour was very well planned, executed and very much appreciated. I can only hope that these two guides continue doing this tour for the enjoyment, education, benefit, and such great fun – for other people taking the tour. Thank you gentlemen – you were stars!

Me and My friend had a couple of days on london, and the Harry potter tour was a total highlight of the whole trip!

It was ran by a brilliant tour guide, Becky. From the word go, she was personable and was great at organizing everyone (there was far too many people booked up, but she handled it well - maybe not so many at a time???) and off we went on our tour! We visited some of the actual places in London where they had filmed the ministry of magic, the leaky cauldron and the inspiration for Diagon Alley.

The best part of the tour was the boat ride, down the Thames, like in Deathly Hallows (pt1) where the dementors fly down the river, by millennium bridge! It was such a lovely day, and the boat ride was gorgeous. After that we got off further down the river, and walked for a while. There was a lot of getting on off tubes and walking, so anyone who is physically not able to handle that, this might not be the tour for you. Another highlight was platform 9 3/4 at kings cross. When I went, they were doing a lot of renovation work, but had luckily put a temporary platform 9 3/4 round the side of the station, for such a great photo opportunity!

All in all, the tour was great. It involved a lot of walking, but if your up for an adventure I'd thoroughly reccomend it. Again, Becky was brilliant - but If i had one thing to say it is that the company need to give her better reference materials, like when we were standing outside the leaky cauldron, she had picture to reference it, but it was all dog eared and handled - little details (like laminting that picture for the tour guides) that cost nothing make the whole experience better!

30th September 2013: After we have already visited the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour this weekend, we also had to make a trip to the London film sets. At Leicester Square collected us the likable tour guide who came fittingly from Edinburgh, Scotland. The tour combines JK Rowling's inspiration places and Warner Bros. filming locations, as well as anecdotes about the actors and information about London's most famous landmarks we passed. All in all a very entertaining tour. The three hours passed far too quickly and our feet did not even hurt. Highly recommended.

Tip: It is very helpful to book the tour in advance or pay the price in cash, because you can not pay by credit card on the spot.

Perfect weather. Nice walk. Long after a few years of working up there as a cinema projectionist at the Warner west end. Redundant when the rebuild from 5 screens to the multi screen Vue cinema back in Sept 1991. Ria gave us a tour of the sights. Amazing how much ambient noise there was at Leicester square compared to how quiet Scotland yard was. Perfect voice pitch considering the background noise on a Saturday. Shame about the wait for the boat ride on the Thames. If you are stuck again there. Just along the Embankment is something not visible anywhere else in the World. The Obelisk on Cleopatra`s needle has the Sphinx facing the obelisk. Every other location in the World has the sphinx guarding the obelisk by facing the opposite way. Excellent knowledge of where to find the nearest toilet from each location asked. For me it was nice to see a city by foot instead of the ease of public transport so close to home when in London. I have done tours before by foot in other cities & thought it was nice to hear about the area & with other films in the same locations to appreciate this amazing city i used to work in. After using a 3D camera to film the tour. My Wife can appreciate the commentary she missed as she is deaf & hard of hearing. I can appreciate the people joining the tour who added the atmosphere of being Harry Potter lookalikes by thrusting their wands at the camera. Thanks Ria for keeping the effort in throughout the tour right to the end & seeing the brief playback. Excellent.
