A Birthday Treat
By KatC on October 16, 2016
We did the walking Tour on Saturday afternoon at 3:00. Very prompt, our guide kept us moving while stopping several times to tell us about city sites and buildings. He was very knowledgeable about Chicago history. We visited several little shops that you wouldn't even know they were there. Everyone of the shops were very friendly and offered great treats. Our group had time to shop at each location. With the laughs along the way we had a great time! Be sure to wear good walking shoes! It's a fast paced walk, but so worth it!
Jeff Our Awesome Tour Guide!!!
By Laurie on August 10, 2016
We were on the Cupcake Tour on Sunday 8/7/16. This was my third Cupcake Tour and my second time having Jeff as my tour guide. He is extremely personable and very knowledgeable about the city of Chicago. No matter how many times you go on this tour, it will always be a different experience. We had a fantastic time and I would definitely recommend the Cupcake Tour to anyone who is looking to learn about the city while enjoying delicious treats!! I highly recommend getting Jeff as your tour guide and think he deserves a large raise!!!
Cupcake Coma
By Beanster on July 25, 2016
Guide (Seth) was awesome - pretty funny guy and full of some city facts and frictions.

I thought the cupcakes were good - some better than others. If you are a fan of chocolate than you should enjoy the tour even more because there are plenty of chocolate flavored choices. I did not think these words would every come out of me but by the last stop, I was done - enough cupcakes!!! Bring me some protein stat!
Nice way to spend a Sunday in the city

This was found and planned at the last minute. Luckily we had great weather and our guide Seth was funny and knowledgeable. Great treats made for a great time.
Worth every calorie
By 4under12 on February 26, 2016
What a fun way to discover multiple spots in the city to sample delicious chocolate concepts!! Nice to have both mainstays like Giardelli's and teeny tiny bakeries like More Cupcakes that you would otherwise walk past without seeing. Our tour guide, Seth, was fantastic...knowledgeable and hilarious; despite windy weather in the low teens, our group had lots of fun and energy was high. Wonderful experience in every way!!
Delectable, informative and refreshing!
By Mariane M on February 26, 2016
From goods to customer service, our Tour Guide, Eddie, made sure that we only received the best; and had the facts and experience to support it. Having been past participants of the cupcake tour, we invite two of our friends from out of town to join us - and they LOVED our guide and the generous treats we got to sample. A great way to kick-start the 4th with friends and burn some calories before the festivities!

Fun Sunday Afternoon

Had fun walking around the city while enjoying samples of chocolate truffles, doughnuts, cupcakes, cake balls, and gelato. Seth was a great guy and taught us a little about the city's history while making us chuckle quite often :)

Cupcakes and history with Brent!”
By root111envy1 on September 27, 2015
It was my first tour like this and I loved it! It was just enough walking to make me not feel guilty about eating so many cupcakes. :-) Brent added in historical remarks about buildings, landmarks, and people which made the tour even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone. ALSO... the cupcakes were divine! Thanks for the lovely afternoon!

Not only was Seth cute AND funny, he was also a great tour guide. He has great customer service skills. He got to know his guests during the tour which was nice. My favorite part was the mini history lessons of Chicago! Oh and the cupcakes were good! I would take another tour lead by Seth! Great job!
Fun and tasty! Dress for the weather.
By Danibam54 on September 27, 2015
Brent was great! He kept it light and interesting. I liked the tour to the cupcake (and gelato) locations. It brought me to an area of Chicago I didn't even know about.

The cupcakes of course were delicious! The sprinkles cupcake ATM was fun and the BLT cupcake from More was a unique twist. It tasted really good.

I will definitely be trying another Great Food Tour the next time I'm local :).

Cupcakes Galore!!!
By Cynthia S on September 27, 2015
This was my 2nd tour with Great Food Tours, I've been on the chocolate tour also.....the cupcakes were delicious. The wonderful thing about their tours is finding those hidden gems that we walk past every day and don't even notice. Eddie was a great tour guide, he gave us a little Chicago history along the way, he really personalized the tour. A must if you are ever downtown and in the mood for cupcakes and chocolate. Request Eddie, you won't be disappointed!

Cupcake Jason is the best!
By Kami G on September 26, 2015
My girlfriends and I wanted to do something fun together and decided on the Cupcake Tour. Jason made our experience so much FUN, even during a February Chicago day! Whether you are a cupcake fan or not (really, who isn't?), this tour is for you. After coming down from our sugar high, we came back the next day to a couple of our favorite stops and bought many cupcakes to take home. We plan on booking the Wine & Cheese Tour with Jason in the near future and bringing more of our friends to join us! I RECOMMEND.
Excellent Cupcake Tour with Seth!
By IheartChi2 on September 26, 2015
Really great tour! I felt like we were given a good variety of cupcakes and enough time at each place to enjoy them. Seth, our tour guide was very attentive, knowledgeable, and funny! He shared many memorable facts about Chicago. I would highly recommend this tour!
Great tour Seth! :)

Today was the second time I took the Cupcake Tour of Chicago...the first time Jeff was our tour guide and this time, Jason was our tour guide. Both tours were awesome!! Even if you're not a huge cupcake fan....it's still a fun time in Chicago! And, if you are a big cupcake fan, than this tour is definitely for you!

Bring your sweet tooth, because you will have many sweet things to eat!

The cupcake tour was soooo good. Seth was extremely kind and a very cool person. My girl and I are most definitely going back. We hope to request Seth, we really enjoyed the tour with him.
fun outting downtown
By Katina M on September 25, 2015
the cupcake tour was a delicious treat. We visited some unknown places to the average joe. Jason the tour guide was informative and even had great side notes about some historical sites along the tour route.
Sweet lovers dream!!!
By Lymda78 on September 25, 2015
I surprised my boyfriend (who is a sweets addict!) with the walking cupcake tour and we were both really impressed! Each place we were taken was delicious and the walking in between was helpful to process all of the sweets. I will definitely try the other tours this company offers. And out guide Jason was very informative, also giving us information about other Chicago history in addition to the bakery's visited.

This Tour Takes the Cake!
By Kristy K on September 25, 2015
My friend and I were looking for something fun and affordable to do on a Sunday afternoon and a co-worker had told us about a cupcake tour she had gone on in the city a few weekends before. My friend and I decided to take the same tour and we couldn't have made a better choice for a weekend girls' day out! Our tour guide was Seth and he made the tour very fun, engaging, and highly entertaining with his in-depth knowledge of the city and his witty humor. I was not expecting to learn so much about the city during a cupcake tour, so this was like getting two tours for one! The walking tour takes you through some of the best parts of Chicago all within a few blocks of each other and hearing the history behind some of these places and discovering the great cup-cakeries located there while getting to taste various cupcakes made the tour convenient and well worth it! This tour is highly recommended for anyone - whether you're from Chicago, the surrounding area, or from out of town!

Not the greatest cupcake tour
By Jamie gelato on March 29, 2014
We took the 5pm tour and at 620pm we had had one cupcake stop and one gelato. It should be called the history walking tour with an occasional cupcake. The second half of the tour was a little better. Three more stops and all within a few blocks of each other. Our tour guide Seth was entertaining. I'm glad a had a coupon and didn't pay full price. Definitely not worth $50
Not worth it
By Tina on March 24, 2014
Wow, I don’t even know where to begin with this disappointment. I have been on a cupcake tour in the past and it was AWESOME! This one how ever was completely opposite.
First of all, the tour group was supposed to meet at 3pm. We arrived at the site at 3:03pm and there was no tour or group in site. We noticed a girl holding a Crumbs bakery bag and asked if she had been on the tour and she said yes but the guide was not very timely. So we waited. At about 3:10 we called and the guide told us that they would wait for us. We practically ran. When we arrived, there was no apology or anything. All he could say is that we left promptly and said it rudely. He left 7, yes 7 of us behind. What kind of tour guide does that! I understand if he left and there was only 1 person and they were 30 min late but 3 minutes? When confronted he would just repeat the same thing. Not a very friendly guide.
Second, the tour says that you will be stopping at 6 bakeries not 4. Apparently we missed the 1st one because we were 3 minutes late and it was not on the original list. I think it was Westwood or Wildwood. We were still shorted one and we had 20 minutes to spare after More but it didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. We went to Crumbs, Le'Appetido, Sprinkles and ended at More. When walking past Goddess and Grocer we noticed that the location was vacant.
And finally when at the last stop he had the audacity to ask for tips! Really? I had a nice tip for him but it was not the one he was looking for. I think his name was either Jeff or Jason. Needless to say, I will never use this company again for any tour.

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. I have been on a cupcake tour in the past and it was amazing. This one however was completely opposite. First of all, the tour states that it starts at 3pm. We arrived and the site at 3:03 and there was no one to be found. We happened
to see a girl with a Crumbs bakery bag and asked her if she went on the tour. She said yes but he was late so we didn't worry. After about 10 minutes and after a few more people arrived we called the tour guide and said they weret already at Crumbs and they would wait for us. We practically ran there. After about 12 minutes we arrived, the tour guide said that they had already been to the 1st bakery. So did they only grab a cupcake and run? Its was only 3:15. No apology or anything. The only thing he would say is that they left promptly. He left 7, yes 7 people behind at 3:03pm! When confronted that was all he could say was that they left promptly. The tour also states that you stop at 6 bakeries. We stopped at 4 and supposedly missed the 1st one. Never again wiIl I use this company.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Bought cupcake tour for 4 through groupon, but dates so booked that have been unable to use before expiration. Can't do Th/F because we live in burbs and have school age children and the weekends have been full.
The tour that never happened!!!!

I placed my reservation and received confirmation for 12/13/13. I receive a phone call from someone at the tour that they need to reschedule (without an explanation as to why). I call back and was willing to reschedule for another day and he schedules me for 12/21/13 at 4pm. I told him, I don't show that you have a 4pm, but he told me they have added tours in between and he reschedule me for that time. My friend and I drive 45 miles into the city for this and no one knew anything about it. I called the tour contact twice, and he did not answer NOR return my phone call. I not only want my money back, I want my GAS and toll money back! What a shady business! HORRIBLE! NO, I will NOT reschedule. Certainly not falling for that again!

Fabulous

This was my first experience with Great Food Tours. I purchased 2 tickets through Groupon, also my first experience using them. The tour was fantastic and the cupcakes were amazing. Saw great parts of the city and learned about some history and architecture as well which was a great little bonus during the tour. Our tour guide was great as well. He was very knowledgeable and funny and seemed to really enjoy his job. This was a fabulous little weekend even to do in the city.
Yummy good fun!

I was surprised with this tour as a birthday gift from my sisters, nieces and daughters. It was so much fun! We enjoyed all the cupcakes! Our tour guide Jeff was awesome, he even had a candle put in at one stop and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me! Loved it and would do it again!
Greg our tour guide
By Cheryl on November 2, 2013
Greg was our tour guide for our outing for a friend's 40th birthday. We had a great day to walk and Greg kept us informed and was enjoyable. We certainly had a lot of great cupcakes. Greg was the best tour guide in Chicago! Your friends from East Central Illinois
Very Accommodating!
By Jacqueline on October 27, 2013
The tour was definitely a fun experience for the discounted price we paid, though we'd probably explore on our own for the full price (but it ultimately depends on the value of the cupcake). First, my best friends and I have very conflicting schedules, and when we finally had coinciding free time, the tour was sold out! Fortunately, Great Food Tours actually took time and squeezed us into their tour. I have to commend our tour guide Jonathan (I think) for his great attitude. He went above and beyond expectations. Not only did he manage to maintain a calm and smiling demeanor after dealing with extremely annoying sugar-wired kids (for his first tour ever!), he also managed to get my Muslim friend a substitute chocolate cupcake in place of the BLT cupcake from More. I was extremely pleased with how everything was handled. Normally, I'd put in a note, but who would have figured they'd be serving us bacon cupcakes?! Overall, it was a great time. We're definitely planning to try the chocolate tour next some time. We're likely to purchase tickets through Groupon again. Thanks again for the amazing customer service!
Sweet but one really "crumby" stop
By TH on October 4, 2013
Guide Jeffrey was himself probably the sweetest and most delightful component of today's Cupcake Tour of Chicago. The stop at CRUMBS in Watertower was indeed "crumby" and the most disappointing feature of this tour. Their cupcakes were neither picture perfect nor fresh and had little taste. A bit tacky to see the counterman note in a file what was eaten, close the box with the remainders, label it and return it to the fridge. All in all, a pleasant, sweet and indulgent diversion.
