Jack The Ripper Walking Tour

Jack The Ripper Walking Tour

Product Review (submitted on October 6, 2015):
One of the best walking tours I've ever been on. I'm so happy to have an attraction as interesting and immersive as this so close to home. I recommend this tour for anyone from their late teens upward, best enjoyed with friends or family, whether ye be a curious tourist or a morbid local like me.

Our tour guide was called John and he was very clear, projected well, was very well-paced and easy to understand even over the odd surge of late-night London traffic. What he truly excelled at was balancing information and historical detail with atmosphere and suspense, all whilst enduring the freezing cold mid-Janurary temperatures.

Although the main focus of the tour was of course the Jack the Ripper murders and visiting the murder sites (a few grisly pictures and descriptions are shown/given on this tour so not really one for kids if they're squeamish), John also threw in information about the street-lighting, the metropolitan police, the investigation itself, 19th century London geography and something truly unbelievable I'd never heard of before called 'The Rope and Bench'. As we walked down 'Rat Alley' it was not too difficult to imagine how completely awful it must have been to navigate in 19th century London. I had no idea that there was a complete lack of street-lighting during this time, and with the smog it must have been truly awful.

All in all, despite the cold, my boyfriend and I had so much fun and we were both looking up further details on the train back home. Loved this tour. I absolutely recommend it to everyone.
